What settings do people use for their powerbook on battery? Does "longest life" do anything more special than having custom settings on the same thing (are there under the hood optimizations if you choose longest life)? Also, the display brightness, how can I have it so that it changes when I unplug the AC (gets dimmer) and gets brighter again when I plug it in?

I just leave mine on automatic and manually dim the screen.

I don't believe so.

You can't. You'll have to do it manually.
