i dl'd the service manual and it looks very complicated to remove the top cover, im kinda scared i wont be able to put it back... this looks much harder than the titanium powerbook that i had.

can someone whose done this before give me some advice, is it difficult or should i just take it to apple store for them to do?

Well it's definitely not as easy as the Titanium Powerbooks, they were almost as easy to swap hard drives as the IBM T series. Even though I have not replaced a hard drive in the aluminum Powerbook I was considering it but came to the conclusion I wasn't willing to take the chance. Also if you do it yourself and something goes wrong I believe you void your warranty, an Apple certified technician can do it without voiding the warranty.

ha...maybe i should be the last person commenting on this, but it's not that difficult an install. the only part that was semi confusing was the removal of the trackpad cable, but other than that it was cake. study that trackpad part...it's a real pain in the a$$.
