I am thinking of getting an extra battery for my 17" Al Powerbook. I have looked at the ones that claim longer lasting power, from Newer Technology - anyone had any experience with them. An extra 21% or whatever they claim would be worth the extra $, but are they reliable, and does using a batter other than the Apple one void my applecare in any way? Are there any other compainies that make batteries for Powerbooks?

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

i dont think there are any batteries that offer a significant increase in battery life. i saw a thread recently on this topic and some people said that apple is pretty slow when it comes down to batteries (and a few other things).

To clarify...
There are batteries that hold a longer charge ...
Instead of the normal 4400mAH, i've seen ones with 4800mAH

It really depends on the price..
If the battery costs a fortune more.. why not just buy the battery..
I'd have to find that site again with the link..

http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/power...inch-aluminum/

The price is not too bad.. it gives a 11% increase capacity..
I have a battery for sale that holds a capacity of 4004 mAH.. so it all depends on your usage..
I can easily squeeze 2hrs - 2.5 hrs on normal tasks on the battery.

If your doing a lot of intense graphics stuff.. i would advise to stay plugged in.. cause you'll probably get an hour and to two hours tops..
