i dunno if this is a operating system issue, or a graphic card or whatever, so i'll post it here since i'm using my powerbook.

i have a rev c powerbook (12 inch) and i've noticed something for a while. certain websites kill my powerbook. it has 1256mb of ram on it. 1.33ghz.

a lot of car company websites kill my powerbook. the cpu usage goes to 97 (user) and 3 (system) and fluctuates around those percentages. i'm on toyota' s website because i'm looking into buying a car. my cpu usage is at 100. any idea how to fix it?

btw, i'm using firefox. same issues with safari.

oh yheah .. and i cant go to dell's website (although i have no real NEED, i was just curious why that is)

Can you give an exact web address or a link? Just going to the Toyota site doesn't do anything to my CPU usage.

Open activity monitor and check to see if there's something unusual that's running the background... Sometimes camino spikes my CPU but it's only for a second. I'm at 5-25% usage as I type this w/ iTunes playing and about a dozen apps open. Something sounds like it might be a bit out of place...

I may be mistaken, but I have noticed that some web sites do that to me too. I think they are either loaded with Javascript, or Flash...

Even pages loaded with flash and such don't seem to peg mine at 100% for any duration of time for some reason. And I've never noticed a slowdown related to my browser. However, this could just be me. I could see how site loaded with flash or tons of java would slow stuff down

my recommendation would be to make sure your browser and flash/shockwave are up to date.... i've noticed slowdowns on my 12" pb before, but only if i have an excessive amount of stuff open (10+ safari tabs + bkground apps such as word, acrobat pro, mail, etc.)... also, sites which have a ridiculous amount of animated/java-based ads tend to be slower...

animated gifs + safari = hell

it's especially noticeable on forums where theres the smilies list by the text input and they're animated... slows everything to a crawel
