Since Simon and others have posted that the new Alu 15" PBs are far and away much more quiet machines when it comes to fans and the "full blast" mode of those fans...

I was wondering if this applies to the 17" as well.

(I am now on the fence - 15" or 17")

Should be the same correct? In fact should'nt the 17" have a less heat since the larger body acts as a larger heat disperal unit?

thoughts?

I have a new 17", just showed up two days ago. Comparing it to my old Ti550, this thing is much quieter, and I have actually not heard this thing speed up at all, even after compositing and retouching in Photoshop CS for three hours straight. Get the 17", it SOOOOOOOOO worth the money!

thanks!

Yah. i told my friend I was interested in the 15" and he said NOOOOOo... get the 17 inch...

one question i have is. I like to use my current ibook on my lap while watching tv (so i can get a little more work done and check sites etc..)

It seems like (i am of average height and build) that its too big for the lap when sitting on the coach?

I made a mock up and it just seemed so big.

I have to go back to the apple store next week.

its not good to use a laptop on your.. lap. well some people put their laptops a little bit above their laps, and there have been problems with becoming sterile. i know that was weird, but its true. the heat can ruin you.
