hey guys,
i just got the 12" powerbook, when the lid is closed, on the left and right side where the lid meets the keyboard, the lid sticks past the keyboard on the left side and the keyboard stick past the lid on the right side. This thing is brand new, why's the lid offset to the left. Can i send it in ta get it repared?

I have this too. Is this really such a big deal? Since it's brand new, you can bring it in, but I wouldn't spend any money to get it fixed.

My iBook used to have it too, and my 15" PowerBook does a little bit (not as far over as yours)
Unless it really bothers you, I don't know that I would send it in.. there are too many stories of bad things happening to units sent in for minor repairs that come back with more problems.

i dunno, i'm a student, saved up for a long time ta get this baby, and it just bothers me a lil when something so expensive can't be made perfectly. I mean, it's a powerbook, it'd be like buying a BMW and the day you bring it home from the lot and close the door, you realize there's a huge gap in the door when you close it. Just kinda annoying.
about apple repair causing even more problems, is this allowed? can't you just tell'm that problem wasn't there when you sent it in? I thought apple repair covered by warrenty was suppose to be the best protection for any laptop brand.

Return it! Return it! Return it! Return it! Return it!
If you just bought it you should get what you paid for - a straight powerbook as they are designed to ship. What if it was dropped ? not retuning it while you can, could cause you headaches down the road.

well, i can't return it. I got it on eBay, don't worry, don't worry, it was a great transaction, factory sealed like the seller told me. factory sticker was unbroken. when i first turned it on, it ran through the initial setup like all brand new machines do directly from apple. He ordered it from www.microcenter.com only a month ago. Called up both microcenter and apple and both confirmed the purchase date. Seller even sent me a printout of invoice.
So yea, i can't just return it at apple store.
all i can do is take it in and ask them to send it in to fix it. just don't know how careful they handle the machines they get in that need to be fixed.
don't want them to create any additional problems, or scratch up my new baby...
