Hi,

Has anyone experienced a screaming noice from their Pismo on starting up? It was almost complete and then it went to sleep after screaming a few seconds.
Just to give you an idea of the sound... My wife waws in another room ans thought the tv was going out!

Is it time to start looking at a replacement? (the 15 inch looks good but a G5 would be nicer)

And since it happened the B key hardly works all of a sudden, I really has to press on it!

Any idea?

Thanks

/Peter

Drive is Probably going bad.... Will it boot from CD! Some drives get stuck (old term was "Stiction") If so it can be replaced for $50 or less

Thanks for the reply.

Well, I dont think it is the drive. 2 out of 3 times I get the sound for about 10 second during start up. Just ran Techtool Pro 4 which didn't find anything.
If you ever listened to a tv that is about to die, it sounds like a component buzzing rather than a HD being stuck.

Very weird that my b key now feels like it is almost stuck which was not the case earlier.
Btw, the sound comes from the the left side of the machine, more so the top left.

Any more ideas? Or how I can check it?

Thanks

/Peter
