Hello all

I'm a newbie here! I bought a 12" Rev.D Powerbook about a month ago, and it was working fine up until about a week ago when I started having problems with my screen while using the internet. It became fuzzy and blurry and started having black and white interlace lines, as well as other weird lines. A black box then popped up and asked me to shut down my computer.

It is happening more frequently now and I'm getting worried. I repaired disk permissions and ran onyx maintenance, but to no avail. Nothing appears to trigger it, like waking up after sleep or coming back to life after a screensaver period, or using a certain application. It just happens randomly and as I said, nowadays, more frequently

Is there anything I can do before I take it in for service?

Your help would be much appreciated

Thanks!

Have you installed any additional RAM? If so, remove that and see if the problem persists.

If it does, take it in.

If not, then return the RAM for a refund. It is defective.

I did install additional RAM, but it was done by Apple when I ordered it.

In fact, while I tried to type this reply on my Powerbook, it happened again. I'm typing this on my Windows desktop!

Would resetting the pRAM do anything?

very doubtful.

looks like you have a hardware problem.

even if it's the RAM, since it's Apple-installed/bought, it's their problem.

Back up your home folder and take it in.
