re: ibook; 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4

(Built in memory: 256mb but will support up to 1.25 GB. there is 1 available expansion slot).

My ibook doesnt seem to recognise new memory I'm putting in. At first I thought it was faulty ram so got a replacement and the same is happening again.

When I go to "about this mac" it states there is 256mb of built in memory.

After inserting the ram, when i go to "about this mac" it now says 256mb DDR SODIMM. - so it seems to recognise something but doesnt add the two together.

when I go to system profiler there is no recognition. A total of 512mb of ram is not mentioned anywhere.

Is it possible that the new ram is overriding the built in ram?

Really confused, is there a major problem with my computer?

would be so so grateful for any help with this - Many thanks.
P.S. the new memory = PC2100 ZDV3264QBUSC - if that means anything to anyone!!

if you were like me, all you did was look in the manual for instructions, only to find out they suck. I went online to find out that the RAM needs to get pushed in (harder than I though one would have to) until you could just barely see the gold contacts. Once I did this, it found the RAM no problem. The airport antenna did fall out of the plug though. (see my other post)
