Hey guys.. I need some urgent help!
My iBook won't turn on!
Ctrl+Cmd+power doesn't boot the machine either...
The last thing I did was to reboot with my Firewire harddrive plugged in.
Tried everything I knew but nothing works:
-removing battery and keeping iBook plugged in
-the reset PRAM trick
-tried to boot the iBook as a target machine from another iBook
-remove RAM and airport card
I have not done any recent backup of my work.
Anyone has any ideas? Really desperate now as I've handled all other problems of my iBook and another iBook with no difficulties in the past. But now, I'm really stuck.
Has my logic board short-circuited?
Is this considered the "logic board problem" <-- my iBook's s/n is covered under that
Details:
iBook G3 700MHz
128+512MB RAM
40GB HD
OS 10.3.9
Help...

Tried resetting the PMU?
(EDIT: fixed the URL to point to your specific iBook model's section, I think)

Try unplugging everything - including power and battery, then reset the pmu, wait for a fews seconds and plug the power adapter in - leave the battery out. I assume they run without the battery, as they run like this in the shop.
Oh and try CTRL+CMD+SHIFT+POWER. Have the battery and power in. Wait then press power, I know it's for a g4 ibook, but it might work.

Major guess: if your startup button is broken (?) you try starting up from an external USB keyboard? Is that possible on an iBook?

That was a good idea about the keyboard power button but unfortunately it doesn't work, it'll switch on my g3 but not my ibook so won't help him.
Do you have an airport card installed? If you do take it out and then try, we've been having a discussion about this at the Airport Extreme Broken thread http://forums.macnn.com/69/mac-notebooks/253403/airport-extreme-broken/

Only thing left to really try is to leave it without power or battery and let it sit for 24 hours. That, or take it to the local Apple store or call the 1-800 line. They charge 280$ for flat rate iBook service.

Yeap. I took the battery out. Hoping to get home tonight and hoping it works again...
