hello,
I have a 1Ghz 12"PB w/ 10.3.8...
it was frozen when i woke up this morning. during a restart it just stayed on the white screen (with the apple logo & spinning bars).
I haven't been able to boot since.

any suggestions?
thanks.

Run the Hardware Test on your Install DVD.

I wouldn't run the HW test first. Proper path of troubleshooting suggests... If the system is toning on startup, I would run the Disk Utility from the install DVD. Check the drive then repair permissions. If you are getting the Apple Logo, t then a tone at boot; then the machine is passing POST (Power On Self Test) and see the hard drive. Aloha.

Thanks for the help.
I ran the disk utility & got errors on "verify disk" & "repair disk" (permissions were repaired though). I also ran the AHT and everything passed.
I took it to an apple store and the HD mounts when booted from an external drive but I get an error when trying to reinstall os x. also got an error when using diskwarrior to try and fix the HD...
So it looks like i have to boot externally, back up what i can, & get a new HD.
what a pain!

anyway, thanks again.
