if i were to use a 20 inch widescreen lcd (dell) with my powerbook, would this hinder performace as compared to just using the PB's screen?

Not in my experience. My PB 17" (1.33GHz) runs perfectly well with my 23" Cinema Display. The only difference I noticed is that the fan comes on when the Flurry screensaver is playing.

what about a 30"

can a PB 1.67 128vram do a real time cube transition if its driving a 30" lcd...?
