I just received my new high capacity 12" Powerbook Battery from OWC and I have to say I'm a little dissapointed. I have a Rev.B 12" Powerbook. I've had it for a little over a year and a half now. This new high capacity battery was supposed to last 11% longer due to its 4800mAH capacity. However, these are the readings I'm getting from it.

"IOBatteryInfo" = ({"Capacity"=3800,"Amperage"=1821,"Cycle $

I read about people on the forums here getting over 4000mah with their 12" Powerbook's battery. I'm baaarely getting 3 hours out of this guy if I set the screen brightness relatively low with airport on.

Has anyone else on here used this battery yet? So far, I'm not sure this battery was worth the extra money and extra long wait.

Very bad news. Your battery does not show the promised 4800, it shows only 3800. There is something wrong. Although the capacity will increase a little within the first 10 loading cycles the initial capacity should match the specs.

My old battery still has more than 4100 mAh.

Did you contact OWC?

Hi,
Did you follow the instructions included with the battery and run multiple discharge/recharge cycles?

The procedure is outlined here:

Thanks!

I got a high capacity TiBook battery from OWC and it had 4900 mAh, which was a bit more than the 4800 advertised. I was pleased.

Yeah, I've calibrated the battery exactly as they indicated. However, I don't think I've gone through 10 full cycles yet. Even so, I'm sceptical that it will jump from 3800 to 4800mAh. I emailed OWC and they said to wait before I had completed a few more cycles. So far, still dissapointed since I read so many good things about their other high capacity batteries on this forum.

I am sceptical too. Anyway, the battery should have the advertised capacity from the beginning. If it improves later - great. Apples batteries always have more than the advertised capacity to make sure no-one can complain.

Please keep us informed.

That's quite a surprise, I bought an ipod battery for my 2g from them and it holds ~20 hours, so I was more than pleased (and I like backlight/random so yeah).. either way, this sucks, and I hope it all comes out good for ya
