I have a G3 700z cdrom iBook. Is it worth it to pay the $280 flat iBook repair fee that Apple charges? It does not turn on so its either the DC board and or the Logicboard. What do you guys think is it worth it or should I just piece it out and sell it.

Are you perfectly satisfied with the performance your iBook gives, or do you think in the future you would need a faster system?
If you're happy with your system now, and you think that shelling out more than the repair and buying a new one is a little too much, then I say get it repaired.
I personally would buy a new one, because I hate to fall behind on technology, esp. computers =]

Well I have a decked out REV C 12inch PB. I just don't know what to do with the sad broken little iBook. I suppose I could get it fixed and give it to my sister. I wonder what the warranty is on the ibook repairs. So I guess what it comes down to is a G3 700mhz ibook with a cdrom worth $280??

Well, in that case, I think it would be. That's still a pretty good system, and to let it go to waste if it can be fixed for $280 would be crazy.

If you don't want to fix it... I'll pay for the shipping to my house and i'll take it off your hands
For $280 you can get a computer up and running to do normal tasks such as e-mail and word processing.. You could always hand it down to your sister.. its good for students.. especially if they break it or something happens to it.. better than if it was brand new.. or else it would hurt even more..

Huh, something similar happend a week ago to my iBook 500MHz. It turns on, but doesn't boot up and screen remains black. Probably the logic board.
I'm still trying to figure out if it's worth it to get it fixed, or if I should take it apart and sell it piece by piece.
In your case, I would get a second opinion on the repair costs. This is what I will do for my iBokk: www.dttservice.com gives FREE repair estimates if you ship your iBook to them.
Their prices are quite reasonable, in your case, a new logic board would cost $195.
Good luck.

If you're handy at all, do it yourself. I'm selling my iBook 500 parts in the Marketplace. I have a DC board and logic board still available - no set price. I also have the PDF that shows you how to disassemble. It's pretty easy, just takes 30mins or so.
