Hi guys,

I am the proud new owner of a 1.67 PB with 100 GB HD, 1 GB RAM, and 128 MB VRam. I have also just upgraded to Tiger and couldn;t be happier ...well, almost .

I am having one problem:

I love the keyboard backlighting. However, If I put the PB to sleep, then wake it, the keyboard backlighting does not come on until I log in, which is hard to do in the dark. I've searched and searched and can't find anything that might be changed to fix this.

BTW, I am a switcher also.....

Can you Mac Gurus help a newbie out?

Neither am I a guru nor do I have a fix for this; however, I wonder why it should be necessary to log out before putting the powerbook to sleep, or log in while it is pitch dark. It seems as though the easiest way to avoid this from bothering you would be to not require a password to wake from sleep or screensaver (unless there is a compelling reason to do otherwise, of course). This setting can be changed in the system preferences (security panel).

I find that a lot of the things such as Bluetooth or even Airport Extreme are turned off when you put it to sleep or even restart (makes sense). I guess its maybe user preference on whether certain things are on or off.. and the light sensors are one of those things that require the OS to be logged in to use?

Same goes with bluetooth. I try to use my bluetooth mouse on the login screen after a reboot and it does not work. After i login however... it works fine..

I must use a password as I have some proprietary information on my computer.

Maybe it's time to exercise the phone support, huh?

Other than this I am really enjoying this new machine.....
