Lazy so& so that I am...I'll rebeg some info from anybody that would care to
respond to a question I asked 'couple of mo.s back. I'm hoping that prices might have come down on the Crescendo cache card effort/s for my 1400C PB. Any idea? I was extremely happy with the L2 400 for my 6400/180 PPC that gave IT new life; and seeing how my level of use still does'nt justify OS X, I'm content to boost my 1400 to my existing 6400's level. Am I correct in assuming that my stock 1400C is relegated to OS 8 or less without the Crescendo expansion? Also-What is the average price for batteries for 1400C?
Any sites? To explain myself further...purchasing a more powerful PB is not really a
option/answer for me because of my thriftiness[OK-Cheapness!]

Well you can run up to OS 9.2.2, but I'd recommend 8.1 on this computer unless you require 8.6 or above for a particular application.

I'm not familiar with upgrade cards for the 1400c, so wouldn't be able to help in this area. I'd say check eBay or a PowerBook parts and service site for what you're looking for. You should be able to get something cheap as I can't see much demand for upgrades for this model. If you end up getting a decent G3 for the computer and enough RAM you should be able to run OS 9.2 at good speeds.

Good Luck!

Thanx Vinster....And sideus-Thank you for link. As I suspected, the price has'nt budged for the
PB G3 upgrade. I only paid 350$ Can. for it a couple of years back [including swappable floppy/cd rom and padded carry case...so I'm reluctant to spend as much for the 299.00$ Crescendo effort.
I seem to remember having a hard time installing OS 9.** on my 6400 till I upgraded with the L2 card...and I might of attempted it on 1400C with no results...but that's not suprising with it's small HD
and miniscule ram status as it stands right now. I figure that added ram and/or larger HD upgrade is useless till I can speed things up. Keep me in mind if anybody hears of a used card from a basket case.
