I've been using an old apple USB keyboard with my powerbooks for years and I can't stand it any longer. It's one of the ones that came with the old CRT imacs. Terrible feeling. I'd like something like this with thinkpad keys:

but I'm unsure if it will work with MacOS. What else is there that is compact with a distinct notebook keyboard feel? I saw a macally one but it felt so cheap I didn't get it. Are there any other ones with powerbook-like keys?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

The Apple notebooks use Scissor keys. Look for one that uses that type of key.
KB1
and
KB2
are two options.
I hate to sound stupid, but why not use the keys on the PowerBook? Then you'd get the authentic feel.

I feel your pain -- I used one of those original iMac keyboards as my external with a Powerbook for almost a year, until I couldn't stand it anymore. Piece of junk, really. I moved to a Matias Tactile Pro keyboard, which is terrific (though noisy), but not "Powerbook like" in feel, as you specified. However, Matias just released a different model (also a lot cheaper) that's said to feel more like a laptop keyboard and has gotten good reviews.

well, when I'm using my powerbook at my desk, I have it sitting on top of a monitor arm high up for comfort so I need to use an external keyboard. I wish Apple could allow me to remove the Powerbook keyboard for external use....probably coming soon.
the ones you suggested look nice though.
Thanks

You could just get a white Apple keyboard. That way you wouldn't have to worry about compatibility and not having the Command key and such.

I don't really like Apple's keyboards, unfortunately. The nicest keyboards, in my opinion, are the Thinkpad and newer powerbook keyboards. I'm going to check out the ones above and see if they feel good.
Thanks.
