Hey everyone,

I just ordered my 15" PowerBook from the apple site yesterday. I was wondering if any of you could reach to your memory banks and tell me how long it took for them to make the customizations and send it. Currently, the status is "Sent to Manufacturing," - how long does this usually take?

It all depends on what customizations you made to it. I know that ordering a stock 15" PowerBook on a Thursday got it shipped out to me on Monday, but it varies from order to order.

So far though, it sounds like it's speeding through, but it can always get hung up in "manufacturing."

I live in Philadelphia and the apple site tells me that its "Sent to Manufacturing" as of now. It also says that it should be shipped out on "5/12/05"

How long does it take to get to Philly? Anyone know?

You never know for sure - check my thread "Stuck in TW". Hope you have better luck. 8 to 14 days best guess.

Thanks.

And yeah, I read your thread. I hope everything works out okay. You'd think after having such a successful corporation after all these years, they would be able to efficiently send a product in a sane amount of time.

zenloof,

I would say 99.9 % of all orders from apple get there. [not certain about the speed of delivery thou]
MY oder has been lost by ups as of info from the local ups center. Apple now tells me that it is going to be another 72 hours {it was been three days via the ups internet screen]before any replacement action to really make sure the package has been lost. I only got this after 11 phone calls with apple from contact named Charles. I may get a new unit before 25 days.

Hope you are enjoying your Powerbook and Tiger sooner.

My best guess if all things are normal 4- 5 days at most. Your package will go to

LOUISVILLE, KY, US IMPORT SCAN then DEPARTURE SCAN

then on to Philly. [sad]- weekend in the way - so slight chance Friday but Monday would be my guess.

I have been told by UPS my package has been lost... (

Well - on the UPS site it still shows package out for delivery. Spoke to Sally at UPS and she says it just stays on the screen but to give her a call back in 90 minutes or so for one last chance.

Spoke to five different people at Apple and no one wanted to really help because the ups screen showed it was out for delivery. Talk about 'catch 22' -[you need to rent that old movie - funny but real]

Last person at Apple Cork Call Center said he would do something and I can call him back today to check on progress.

I care!

I just spoke with Apple {for the 15th attempt} and got a real nice supevisor who was able to help me and a replacement order has been placed today friday at 12 noon. I do not believe it is going to get lost like my first order which was placed on April 28 at 2:09 p.m. Hope my second order is as quick as your first.

Congratuation on quick delivery - Apple and UPS can come through.

Nothing against UPS, but how exactly does a package get "lost". I am thinking more like "liberated"?
"Mac Daddy" - 15" MBP, 2.2 GHz Core i7, 8GB, 750GB HDD
"Mommy Mac" - 13" Macbook, 2.4GHz C2D, 2GB, 160GB
"Baby Mac" - 15" PB, 1.5GHz, 1.5GB, 80GB
64GB iPod Touch (4th gen)

Your correct, My driver assured me that most likely the package was "libertated" What has happened before is the packaged is scaned then placed on the wrong truck by accident and when a quanity of packages get delivered to a location [it can happen that this out of order packaged gets left at this wrong location with the other packages] the driver not catching this; it is the customer who says to the driver next time around - 'oh here is a misdelivered package'. 'or not' It could happen.

Also, UPS makes it a hassle for employees to fix their mistakes. If they accidentally scan a package to the wrong truck or location, there is a ton of paperwork and unnecessary processes they have to go through to correct it. And there is no way to prove who actually scanned the package incorrectly, so from what I hear from a guy who works loading trucks at the center here, is that a lot of the truck loaders, if they make a mistake they will just let it go and not tell anyone and not try to correct it.

When I ordered my powerbook BTO, I requested the 2nd day shipping via FedEx and after it was built and left Taiwan (roughly 2 days), it was in my hands in 2 days.
