Just keep in mind that you will lose everything that's on there and not backed up!

When you run Tiger installer it gives you the option for clean install and erase!

hmm, so i insert the tiger disc into my computer, select the option for clean install and erase - and voila, all the partitions on my hard drive will be erased?

(i have osx and linux on separate partitions - so i want to be sure this will clean the linux portion as well as the osx portion.)

No, doing that will only erase the partition in question.

Boot the Tiger disc, then choose your language, and then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Then click the drive (not an individual partition!), and then Erase. It should be obvious from there.
