Placed an order for a 15"er a little while ago, nice little ADC discount and all.....
Dang I've been waiting to do this for a while, too bad I couldn't get a 17" but the CTO wait time was too long (I gotta have this by Monday, long story), which is just fine with me. This sweet machine shall be here by Friday, knowing apple's shipping record here.. good stuff
I can hardly wait!
Pics shall come soon enough.

Out in CA, but I ordered over ADC so it looks like it'll take a whole extra day to process that so the order can go through, should be here by friday (extremely hopeful), or at worst monday.

If you had to have it by Monday, why didn't you go to an Apple store? Anyway, I hope you get it on time! Apple is usually reliable, but delays in shipping seem to be one of the more common annoyances.

Apple store = no ADC discount and last I checked, they don't do BTO laptops.. and even if you order one online that takes just as long heh.
This is more than alright I found that ADC has a less than perfect process but that's okay (they asked me to fax in some papers from my college but when I faxed them, they sent another message saying they still had nothing lol)... so I got to connect the dots myself (fax again, call ADC, have them check and activate it, then the salesperson to go ahead and get the green light for it all). No big deal, of course
Turns out my machine's coming from Sacramento (aka Elk Grove) so I'm pretty sure it'll be here by Friday I've thought about buying from an apple store (EDU discount would still apply), but that'd be kinda hard to get to, and ironically they charge more tax in the cities where they are, hehe.
Pics shall come soon enough I suppose, I'm really excited because I've been wanting to get a PB for well over a year now It'll definitely hold me over to Powerbook G5 Rev B or C muwahhahahaa.

Ah, silly me for forgetting to follow up o_O
When the apple store person said it'd probably come fast after approving the order (ADC stuff why I called), they meant it. At 9AM the next morning, FedEx delivered my shiny new PB. Thursday being a college day I was quite thrilled, this especially meaning that I could give the machine a quick few test runs to make sure there'd be no surprises for that Tuesday presentation. *smirk*
So while I was waiting for my bro and mom to get ready (I was done), I messed around with the laptop for a little bit and was totally impressed.. for a 15" it sure feels nice. I plugged it in when I got downstairs, hooked it up to my g4 for a quick few firewire transfer things.. and an hour later left to the college, with my PB in the backpack (inside my old laptop case haha), ghetto works
After doing the projection tests with a 2 hour old laptop, then heading off to take a break between classes, I realized this thing has some REALLY good battery life -- 3 hours remaining for 40 minutes of charge.. not bad at all.....
Next class came, the instructor was pleased to see someone finally was using a computer to take notes (things go faster that way), and made a comment about the powerbook looking good, which of course it does He has a tibook from about the time my QS was made, and so yeah they're all really nice machines
The last 2 days I've spent a ton of time on it, and surprisingly my g4 too.. as I thought the heat can be a bit much to use as a primary machine, but I was planning on keeping the g4 in main use anyway since it's my 'hub' providing music, services, etc to the rest of the network anyway! Either way, the little machine packs a big punch, and can do some really nice emulation (a big plus because I was hoping on playing stuff up to N64 games and maybe even UT2004 when on break or vacation), which it does VERY nicely. I wasn't expecting the MR9700 to be THAT good.
Needless to say, I'm really happy, and at the price I won't be too hard-pressed to buy another machine a few years down the line, plus it compliments the powermac really well and I get the first-class mac experience no matter where I am now!
About the only issue is how to keep all our itunes/iphoto libraries (and for me, my photoshop/schoolwork/collegework/resources libraries) into sync.. as we all like to share the same pictures/music (the college stuff only needs to go between my two machines), but I'm sure I'll figure out a way to do that soon enough.
Pictures are up here

I have the 15" 1.67 too and I don't get why everyone harps on the heat thing. Yes, it gets warm. But, the thing is ALUMINUM which has a very high heat transfer rating. They make pots and pans out of it because Al conducts heat so well. Most other laptops are plastic or rubber coated metal so they will appear to be cooler. We notice it with the PB much more because that aluminum is transferring the heat to the outside where the plastic will tend to keep it inside and not transfer as much to us.
I've had my PB since Tiget came out - got it at the launch party with th 10% off scratch off and I regularly use it on my lap wearing shorts and it's fine. After a couple hours it gets warm on the bottom, but not burning or anything like that.
I also wouldn't worry too much about the heat causing component failures - computers today run HOT. It's a fact of life. Components are designed taking this into account (think car computers - a much harsher environment than a laptop) and the heat probably won't affect things much. And even then it is probably something small like: this computer runs so hot you only can get 7 years before the CPU fries and if it were packed in ice you'd get 7.5 years. Who cares as you probably won't keep it 5 years let alone 7.
Enjoy your PB - it is an AWESOME machine!

The fact the computer gets hot is probably a good thing - it means that the neat is being conducted away from the MB. They could make the computer feel cooler, but then it would probably just run hotter inside and need louder fans.
