I've got a TiBook 1GHz, with a Mobility Radeon 9000 in it. Recently I decided to try out the ATI Displays thingie (mainly cos I'm an idiot, and partly cos it came up in Macupdate). Since then I've been having problems outputting to TV via S-Video. It mainly consists of the laptop not detecting the TV, or detecting it incorrectly as NTSC (when its PAL only!). I've looked around to try and get rid of the pref pane, but I'm not convinced that will help and don't want to completely screw things up. I've also seen a Jan 2005 update for ATI cards that might help, but after this went SO well I've been wary.

Can anyone help me please?

BTW, I do realise, now at least, that I probably shouldn't have installed it in the first place!

Cheers

The ATI monitors installer places at least one .kext file in your /System/Extensions directory. It is called ATITVOut.kext - I'm unsure what the others are called (or if anything else is even installed there).

You can manually delete this extension in Terminal (sudo rm [then drag the file to the terminal window]).

I think the ATI readme has more information about exactly what's installed, too.

Good Luck!

ATI Displays should work just fine with any Radeon equipped Mac. If there are problems that can be traced to ATI Displays, ATI should be notified.

vinster is correct. The ATITVOut.kext is the only kext that should be installed with the ATI Displays installer. However, from what I've been told, that should only affect retail video cards. PowerBooks have their on TV Out controls built in. I just got my TiBook 800 upgraded to the same model as yours (logic board swap) so I'll test it. But I had no problems with the old logic board and older versions of ATI Displays. In this case, if I can replicate the problems and can verify it's related to ATI Displays, I can contact ATI. I know a guy who knows a guy

Note that the Jan2005 update is not compatible with 10.4... as stated in the release notes...
Don't know what version of Os you're running.

That's ok I'm running 10.3.9 - don't have the money to upgrade at the moment!

In fact, as I'm running 10.3.9 will it make any difference at all?
