I have a few questions if I am to give in to temptation and finally upgrade to a 1.5Ghz 15" AlBook from my TiBook 667/DVI...it's almost time...

Can the combo drive in the current AlBook read DVD+R media? It's for discs I burn on my Athlon's Pioneer DVR-107D drive. The TiBook can read DVD-R media burned from it but not +R media.

How's the speed differential from those who have done a similar upgrade? My most-used apps are Unison, MAME, Mail, Firefox, and VLC but there's probably stuff I've never tried on my old machine. I guess I'm looking for general OS "snappiness" too...

I assume the screen quality is the same (excellent!).

Well I went from a 550 TiBook to a 1.5 AlBook and it is way faster!

My Albook has a superdrive in it and it can read DVD+R DL disks!

Cool! I still use by TiBook a lot but it's almost time for an upgrade...maybe after the new iBooks come out and I'm disappointed in them.

Anyone with a Combo drive that can read DVD+R?
