My laptops are running very hot under Tiger and the fans are constantly going... anyone else had this issue?

Perhaps a clean install is the way to go...

I had the same issue arise once last night actually. The fans were blowing while the only applicaitons open were iCal and Safari for a good 15 minutes. I rebooted and everything went back to normal. If it is an actual issue and not just me thinking the fans are on for no good reason let's hope 10.4.1 has a fix!

there're discussions all over the place for big cat heat issues. check out macintouch.com for some good references. the big culprits appear to be virex and spotlight.
