Any tips from the veterans on keeping this thing clean?

I've only had it a couple weeks, and I try to wash my hands prior to touching anythign on this laptop, and dont eat & computer. I already have nifty wrist smudges on the left and right of the trackpad.

I know they make little wrist pads you can purchase for ibooks to prevent smudging/staining on the ibook. does anyone know where I can find these? I've googled for a couple hours and nothing looks/sounds like what I want.

What do you folks use to keep the screen clean, and same for the exterior of the laptops. Any safe cleaning material for the keyboard as well?

Thanks in advance.

I use car wax for the case of mine. It works very well. Fortunately, my trackpad has remained clean. A dry cloth works well for the monitor but I'd like to try a cleaner that's made for LCD's.

my trackpad is fine... its the part of the laptop directly to the left and right of the trackpad... you know, where your wrists end up resting as you type? right there, I have the beginnings of impressions right there. right now ists just the slight oily hue when you tilt the ibook that's visible... but in my past ones, that turned into darker darker impressions as time went on

I haven't used it myself, but others have said the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works well for cleaning the textured white surface (wrist rests). You can find these in the household cleaner aisle of Wal Mart or a supermarket. A damp microfiber cloth also works well for general cleaning.

It's easy to clean the outside of the iBook, it's in between and underneath the keys that is impossible. I'd recommend an iSkin to keep stuff out of there. You may not eat or drink near the iBook, but skin cells and dander and dust and sheddings from what you wear will still get in there. With the white transluscent keys, it looks really nasty fast.

ccsccs7 >> thanks for the iSkin link. I'm going to order that tomorrow. Now to find somethign to go under my wrists to prevent those markings.

dave N >> If I can't find a wrist rest/protector, I'll give the Mr. Clean dry eraser a try. Thanks for the tip.

I'm not tooworried about the outside of the ibook (top/bottom) as those are plastic and easily washable. its more the inside surfaces that I'd like to keep clean.

The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is like...well, magic...on the palm rests and trackpad. I picked up a couple at Safeway not too long ago and I'm really impressed - it will remove things that soap/water just can't handle. I wouldn't recommend if for the keyboard or outer case though...it is slightly abrasive.

For the screen and keyboard, I use iKlear...also a very impressive product

I'm pretty happy with this one... it's useful for the screen but also for the exterior. I think they even ship in other countries than Germany.
