Ok i need advice on what to do.

I purchased a 12" ibook in January. After 1 month of "light" usage it had to be sent in for repairs. The computer was working fine but the LCD was not working. I could use the video out and plug it into my monitor with no problems. It took 2 weeks to get the ibook back.

Fastforward a few months. i was typing on my ibook the other night and the screen just went blank.. A few seconds later it flickered on and had colored lines everywhere. I rebooted and everything seemed back to normal. A few minutes later it did the same thing. The next reboot took almost 5 minutes to load up the OS. Once again the problem occurred except this time it just stopped responding. Would not respond to the power button and after removing and reinstalling the battery and AC adaptor, the computer is dead. Sometimes i can get the fan to turn on, but nothing else..

Ok thats the background.. What are my options? i did not purchase the Applecare plan, but I am well under the 1 year hardware warranty mark. If this thing is going to break every 2-3 months then i just want out now. I cant be without my laptop for lengthy periods of time as I need it for school, so i cannot keep sending it in for repairs.

What is Apple's replacement policy? They basically told me over the phone that they can't help me unless i fork over 50$ for 5 days of phone support which is good for 1 issue. (what a load of S#!T !!)

is there any hope of getting a replacement? Or are they going to want to keep performing surgery on a lemon?

Please help!

Well,

As far as i'm aware, you would be eligible to take your Ibook back to the store and get it fixed as many times as you like. If you're under warrenty then I think you should have no problem. Try an Apple Store.

If you take your Ibook back to the store and they fix it more that 3 times, they should give you a brand new one. REMIND THEM when it get's close to or on 3 times.

I assume it's an Ibook G4.
I hope my Ibook doesn't go this way.
Out of interest, where do you pick the Ibook up from? E.g The left hand corner by the trackpad, by the CD-ROM drive? I'm not sure but I think npicking it up continuously from a certain place may put strain on the graphics chip and slightly dislodge it.

Apple really need to realise that these Ibook's have a design flaw with the logic board, and the screen cables.

I know this is probably a logic board problem, but if you can get it to boot up, do a backup pronto. If apple replace your system then it's bye bye hard drive.

Any more info required or i've missed anything just ask,

Sean
