I saw a guy at a coffee house today who's Powerbook had frozen(hard Freeze) so he turned the PB over and removed the battery put the battery back in and restarted the PB. Isn't that pretty bad, I don't know but poor PB I wanted to cry.

Next time, you can tell him that holding down the power button for about five seconds will have the same effect.

There is nothing wrong with taking out the battery, btw.

I'm not entirely sure what you're freaking out over.

I don't think so? *shrug* it's like pulling the plug on a computer when it freezes.. shouldn't hurt anything

or you could do the keycommand that has been around since before the performa, command, control, power key... called a warm-boot.... faster and more effective, doesent work in a kernal panic tho... atleast i think it doesent.... there is nothign really wrong with battery pulling, its just dangerous in that you have to move the machine while dong it so it runs a risk of hurting the harddrive, which shouldnt be doing much while you are frozen anyway

All is true.
I just hated to see a powerbook treated in such a manner. Why not just hit control/command powerbutton to force reboot the system seems like a lot of work to turn over the powerbook remove battery, put it back in then boot.
