I wonder how well the 15" powerbook will run Final Cut Express or if I should just get an iMac....I own a 1.25 g4 AL Powerbook, maybe all I need is a 20" ACD?

I run FCP on my 15", besides the slow render times it runs perfect. And I don't have a display, until I save up a few hundred bucks I'll be stuck using the pbook's screen. DVD studio pro also runs fine on it.

15" 1Ghz Titanium - No problem with video editing, using both iMovie, and FCP. Sure, if you're comparing it to a G5 it's not going to be as good, but I'm moving around a lot, and the convenience of the powerbook absolutely outweighs the slightly slower rendering time.

As with any decision between desktop and portable, how important is the "portable" part to you?

My girlfriend's sister uses her 15" PB to edit videos she makes for some classes she is taking in college, and has no problem with it. I'm not sure if she uses Final Cut Pro, I think it's iMovie.

My wife and I both use our PB's to do video editing. She just made a nearly 2 hour training video, without any difficulties. It takes a while to encode, but certainly not so long that it is prohibitive. What was prohibitive was the hours we used to spend fixing driver conflicts, and trying to get different programs to communicate on our old PC. Thank God we switched last summer!
