But PBFixIt sells realatively cheap G3 outer shells. Anyone know if they will fit a new G4 model? Thanks.
The bottom part of the cases won't fit because the G4 iBooks use slot loading optical drives and thus the bottom case for the G4s under the optical drive area is straight. The G3s have a tray loading optical drive, and thus that part of the bottom case is curves down to make room for the tray loading optical drive. That might not have been the best explaination, but suffice to say, you can't use a G3 bottom case on a G4.
However, you CAN use the top case of a G3 iBook on a G4. That's what I did and I now the top case of my iBook is now blue. I have a picture of it in the iBook pic thread.
