Well my cat decided to hate me and knock a full can of soda on my running iBook... I cried. So now it's "dead" maybe... I currently have it quasi-open sitting in front of a fan (for 2.5 days now). The guy at the Apple store told me to wait a week before powering it back on again.

I'm wondering if anyone else can help me out here. I know I may need to replace the logic board if it still doesn't work (which I will NOT be doing through Apple). The comp is only less than a month old and I'm very worried. Can someone give me some tips on how to dry it out faster or better?

Well I assume you turned it upside town after it happened to spill out any trapped liquid. You seem to be okay with the idea of opening the machine. You could do that, take out the major parts and lay them out on a dry cloth. I would be surprised if they were still damp.

The biggest problem is that the parts are likely to be sticky (if you were drinking seltzer that would be lucky). If so, you may have to clean them with a damp cloth and let them dry again. Sorry, this is the best I can offer. BTW where did you plan to get an Apple logic board without going through Apple?

It was diet soda, thank god... so it shouldn't be sticky at all. www.powerbookresq.com has great prices... like not $800 for a Tier 3 repair. I didn't open the whole thing up. I'm not that good with the whole thing to do that. I just took off the keyboard, airport card and cage and took out my extra memory card. It looks really dry, but I'm really afraid of turning it back on.

How can I get in there and check without killing my case??

Just wait it out a week and see what happens when you boot it up. Sorry to hear about your bad luck there mate. Rule of thumb, never EVER set a drink near your Mac
iMac G4 / Macbook
