Hi all

A couple months ago, I got a generic 1 gig ram stick from OWC for $199. Stuck it into my 1 gHz iBook, ran Apple hardware/mem tests off CD, everything checks out fine, 1.25 gigs of RAM. Recently switched to Tiger, ran Xbench...best numbers to date.

But, dopily, I just noticed in About This Mac that the new ram is PC2700, while iBook specs call for PC2100. OWC guarantees compatibility, and I've had no heat/performance problems (although I was expecting a bigger performance boost). Your feedback is most welcome.

Cheers

I have 512 of 2700 in my iBook. The RAM just downgrades to the fastest speed that the motherboard will go.

Yes - it will work perfectly. PC 2100 and 2700 are from the same basic spec. One is just rated for higher operation than the other. PC2700 also tends to be chaper to buy than 2100 as there is more call for it / crucial are gouging us on the 2100.
