Hi,

Unbelieveable!! It took less than half an hour for me to upgrade the hard drive on my 17" powerbook. I took the 80gb 5400 hard drive from my pismo, and swapped it for the original 17" 80gb 4200 hard drive.

The 17" is running even faster now. But I am shocked at how easy it was. Not as easy as the titaniums or pismos, but definitely not as difficult as I would have imagined. I actually opened my previous 15" and that was literally nerve-wrecking. The top case on the 17" though just comes off. No need to insert anything anywhere to get it off. I feel confident now if I ever needed to upgrade the superdrive or something. Very nice!!!

I should have asked you this prior...
If you thought keeping the original hard drive would be sufficient and better in terms of battery life and heat, or is the 5400 ibm 8mb cache better? Do you think it's better to have the 5400 drive in my pismo?

Thanks!!
