512MB of PC2700 (333MHz) DDR SDRAM; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 2GB

Does this mean that the 15" PB comes with a total of three RAM slots - one preloaded with 512MB, and two fre for expansion, or a total of two RAM slots - one of which is already preloaded with 512MB?

Cheers.

Nope, it has 2 RAM slots which each can hold 1GB of RAM. It comes with 2 256MB sticks in it from the factory.

"two SO-DIMM slots support up to 2GB"

It comes base with 512 megs on one card, you can upgrade from Apple or do it later and save money. Either way, they've got 2 slots, each one can support a card of 1gig.

12" powerbooks have 256 built into the mobo and have one expansion slot, so they max at 1.25gig.

Sorry for the double post, my internet won't let me edit my previous message and mgehman posted the same time I did. Apple changed it to a single card of 512 rather than two of 256 with the last revision I belive.

Yep, and that applies to all the 15" and 17"ers -- oddly enough the slots are stacked on top of each other *shrug* oh well
