Dear All,
I want to buy a iBook 12" 1.2G, I mainly use illustrator, photoshop, or sometimes using Maya, is it suitable for me? For the RAM, is it the same with PC-laptop DDR-RAM?
Thank you.

I can't help with the application requirements (that's a judgement call...maybe someone in the forums has used Maya...), bit the RAM is standard notebook PC2100 DDR SDRAM according to the specifications page.
I use Photoshop and Illustrator on my TiBook/667Mhz and I'm a happy camper (well, I'm not doing super-intensive stuff).

Thanks for your help. I think I will buy a ibook 12"
Another question is while I use VGA out to connect my own LC Monitor, can the resolution be increased? (original ibook resolution is 1024x768, connect to LCD change to 1280x1024)
is it posible?
Thank you.
Alan

I don't believe the resolution can be increased. If so, this would be a strong incentive to make the iBook a low-end desktop replacement. I wish the resolution could be increased.

THanks all
I just bought it few hours ago
I really love the body
Just now, I search form the internet, there is an application called "Screen Spanning Doctor", which can enable the external display resolution.
(e.g. My Proview 17" LCD is a 1280x1024 resolution, without install the "Screen Spanning Doctor", I can only have 1024x768 resolution(since ibook is this resolution)
after installed this file, I can have 1280x1024 in my proview LCD. )
quite useful
And sorry for my bad English, I am from Hong Kong^^

Yes, Screen Spanning Doctor really does eliminate the single biggest difference between the iBook and 12" PowerBook!
One thing: recent Macs don't like cheap RAM. Spend a little more and get top-grade RAM from a vendor like Crucial. It'll save a lot of hassle.
The second thing: get AppleCare. Laptops get a lot more wear and tear than desktops, and are very likely to need some kind of repair within 3 years. AppleCare costs less than a single out-of-warranty repair.

Congrats on your new iBook. Hopefully this won't be one of the last PPC generations.

Congrats, I'm very glad to hear that. Sorry for wrong info, but I was under the impression that the iBook could only go to 1024x768 even with Screen Spanning Doctor. Indeed, this does make the iBook look more attractive as a low-end desktop replacement!
