I got this PB pismo with the bronze keyboard from a guy who basically says I can have it for a very low cost if I can fix it. The problem is, it doesn't boot up at all. No LED indicating power, nothing on the monitor, no startup sound, etc. The battery works, as far as I can tell because one LED on the side is flashing. I managed to get the hard drive to spin up. In other words, when I hit the power button, the only thin gthat happens is I can hear the HD spin up. The guy took it to an apple dealer and they said that the problem was likely either the logic board or the CPU card. The latter seems more likely to me, since as far as I know these things won't even try to boot without a CPU. So has anyone had a CPU/card just go dead on them? It seems strange for it to just die like that. The guy thinks he wrecked it by leaving it in the trunk of his car for several hours while he was down south. I doubt that would fry anything considering how hot the CPU itself gets when it is running.

Here's what I've tried:
1.) The PMU reset thing
2.) Disconnecting the CMOS battery
3.) Removing the RAM to see if I get the broken glass thing.

I'm really all out of ideas now. I plan to get a torx wrench soon and just disassemble the whole thing and reassemble from scratch to really make sure everything is connected and it's all cool. From what I've seen, it does seem to be a symptom of the CPU not working, but I haven't heard of a CPU flat out dying like that.

If anyone has anymore suggestions, I would appreciate it.

First thing I'd try is to re-seat the processor card. You can take it out by removing the metal shield on top of the card and unscrewing the long screw to the left of the processor card holding the heat dissipator in place.

Press firmly on the card in the area where it attaches to the logic board until you feel it click into place.

could be the sound/AC board or the logic board. Anyone with a working pismo around, so you could swap parts and find out, which one it is?

Thanks, I did that, but still no luck.
