I'm a switcher, but most of my friends use some type of Mac already.. I've used Windows and some variant of linux for 10+ years so I doubt I will have a hard time figuring the OS out. But I just had a quick question, is the battery used the type that keeps a 'memory' of where the charge levels are at? If so. when I get the PB should I use it until it's fully drained right after I open it & then charge it fully without using it at all? Thanks in advance. Also, how often should I drain the battery if I plan to use as a desktop replacement?

No, it's lithium ion. It has no memory. You can calibrate it by letting the machine run down on battery until it goes to sleep and then charging it back up fully as described in your user manual. I don't really understand your second question. If it's a desktop replacement, just leave it plugged in all the time.

Well, my second question was assuming it had some type of memory, I would need to drain the battery once every few weeks fully to retain the memory of the charge. But since it doesn't have that, I guess it's not needed. Thanks for the answers.

Rule of thumb is to run it down maybe once a month or two to help with the time calibration.

What do you mean your first PowerBook? You plan on getting some more? JK
Congrats on the purchase, and enjoy! I enjoy my PB every day. Its almost 1.5 years old and the battery still goes for 2.5 - 3 hours
