I just read this other thread here, and had this thought: Why didn't Apple do away with latches?

I remember the "toilet seat" iBooks didn't have a latch for the screen, and I thought it was brilliant since nothing was going to be broken.

Hmm.

Well I think it's either a latch or a PB that has a chance of opening when it goes flying. I'll choose the simple button push to open my PS, thanks.

As far as latches go, I prefer the design to many of the others that I've seen on PC laptops.

I've just had bad luck with them as I've sent 2 PB's and an iBook back for faulty ones.

Really though, the best alternative:
