Have you adjusted the settings? Turned it up to full?

Not sure what you mean by no light from Space Bar. Mine does not light up either. The light is around it.

No light underneath my space bar either... never really noticed it until you pointed it out. No biggie.. how can you miss the space bar?

Uhhh... no offense, but you guys... didn't by any chance apply a bit of common sense did you...? Well, I'll just assume you're having a bad day. Aluminum colored paint is not transparent. We all know the light comes from around the key, but the reason the non space bar keys light up is because their labels are transparent. The "P" label on the P key is transparent and so on and so on... that's how the light gets through. That's why only the letter label lights up and not the whole key itself. There's no label on the space bar due to the fact that as much as apple designers assume their buyers are computer illiterate, everybody knows what the space bar is. Thus, the space bar can't light up, unless you would like to petition apple to put a big "SPACE" label on the space bar so it can bask in it's lit glory.

i think he's saying that there is no light under the spacebar, not through the space bar. if you look at the cmd key and everything on the bottom row (other than the space bar) the light does show under the keys. im guessing that the space bar doesnt light up underneath because apple didnt place any LEDs (if thats what they use) to light it up.

im sure anyone with common sense knows how the backlit keyboard works.. we didnt need an explanation.

Only two LEDs light the whole keyboard; it uses fiber optic fabric to illuminate the whole surface. (See www.lumitex.com for how that works.)
