Greetings,
I am considering the use of Wrist Rug for my brand new PowerBook. My watch has a metal bracelet and would hate to have the palm areas of the power book all scratched up. So, if you're using the Wrist Rug, how do you like it? does it affect the "comfort level" of using the PowerBook significantly?
The Wrist Rug I am talking about is this one... http://www.powersupportusa.com/produ...hp?category=pb
Thanks !
Ken.

I bought a wrist rug for my 550 mhz Titanium about three and a half years ago. It was so soft to the touch...after a few days with it, I noticed with mild embarrassment that I'd begun to pet my computer as if it had transformed into a kitten.
One downside is that wrist rugs eventually get dirty and gross. You'll probably have to discard yours after a year.

They look horrible.

Try doing a search.
I have one and i like it. It is really soft and nice to have especially if you wear a metal watch or something that might scratch up the Aluminum. Another suggestion is just to take the watch off if you use the PB for long periods of time.
As another user noted, after a long period of time.. it might start getting gross.. mine isn't at that stage yet... been using it for 2 months right now... but the whole point (for me) is just to prolong the life of the PB... i don't mind if i'll have to toss it down the road..

Thats too funny.
As far as them getting dirty, I wouldn't mind replacing them on an annual basis as long as they come off clean and without leaving any gunk on the computer. Are they fairly easy to peel off?

I have been taking the watch off anytime I am at the house and working on the computer for prolonged periods of time. Here is the catch though, I have a habit of forgetting to pick things up (especially small things) and most of the time I am using my PowerBook in large classrooms. I would hate to leave my watch sitting at the desk and walk off.
I want to prolong the life of the PB as well, that is why I am considering the Wrist Rug. I remember reading a thread on corrosion problems on PBs where you rest your palm. Trying to avoid the possibliity of having to face that problem. As I understand, AppleCare does not cover that.

Same goes with me. I took off my watch in one of the quite rooms at my University and then i went to the washroom. I totally forgot i took it off up until i got back. No one took anything.. but its just a matter of time.
I also got the WristRug in order to avoid the corrosion problem.. and it is correct that AppleCare does not cover it. Some people have also just used PalmPilot Screen protectors to put in the same place... they said it works..

Quite frankly, I am bothered with the fact that AppleCare does not cover the corrosion problem. Although I will be taking every precaution to avoid the problem I am still troubled by the fact that I am having to take measures that I shouldn't have to. Meaning, a computer should be built for normal use and warrantees should cover manufacturing defects that result from normal use. I personally associate resting my palm on the the computer "normal" use and if my palms sweat due to heat and if this results in corrosion, I dont see why Apple shouldn't cover it. Perhaps design the PB to where the palm areas are no made with material prone to corrosion?. Now I am getting a little too anal.
Oh well, its a beautiful computer and I intend to take care of it.

Corrosion? Do you know what that means? A scratch, if it happens, is not corrosion.

Of course I know what corrosion is, what I meant to say was that I am considering the Wrist Rug to prevent scratches and such but many others use it to prevent corrosion. Scratches of course are not and shouldn't be covered under warrantee whereas I feel that corrosion should be.

I would definitely want a wrist rug, problem is though, that the shipping costs are almost more than the sale price. too bad there isn't a European reseller.
