G4 wont start up ? icon

G4 now boots from cd but not sure what start-up disk I should choose.
9 os10 or the boot cd I started to select os10 but said something about installing op system
so I cancelled incase it wipes out my hard drive? any suggestions?

Clarify what you are talking about. Are you reinstalling the system software, to choosing the start-up disk?
