(I can't remember if I posted this once before, also didn't find another topic in a search)

Posting out of curiosity since I was trying to fall asleep when my waking PB caught my attention.

From time to time my PowerBook wakes from sleep all by itself. It's pretty rare but has happened a good number of times since I got it back in 2002.

I have an external keyboard and optical mouse, and a bluetooth adapter. Energy Saver set to NOT wake for Network access (not that I'm on a network other than my broadband connection). The computer does NOT wake by moving the mouse (the light shuts off when in sleep—though a mouse click will wake it). I don't know about bluetooth (set to not discoverable), the only device I have is my cell, which has bluetooth turned off most of the time. And of course I don't, and never have, had a "Start up or wake" schedule set.

Nope, never had that happen.

Could be a vibration waking it. Some other bluetooth device waking it, etc.

Vibration?

I've been curious about the Bluetooth thing... I don't remember if it happened before I got my adapter, though it seems unlikely since it's happened at several different locations.

My TiBook 400 Mhz G4 (the first generation with OS X 10.3.3) sometimes would wake up for no apparent reason. Wake on network is off and no external devices are connected.

My first generation 12" PB doesn't wake up mysteriously like my TiBook.

My 12 inch powerbook woke up with a isdn modem attached to a usb port, but never because of a usb mouse or keyboard. Maybe there were signals on the telephone line.

In your case bluetooth might receive something from outside (not from your cell phone)? Did you find out if the cell phone wakes the computer if you explicitely contact the powerbook via bluetooth while it is asleep?

I have the opposite problem, mine will never go to sleep unless I manually make it, or close the lid. Left unplugged it will just whir away until the battery dies.

No, my phone can't connect if my computer's sleeping.
