I'll be gone for a week one of these days and since this will be my first prolonged away time from my Powerbook, how should I store it?

not plugged in and battery at around 96% to start is ok?

You could just turn it off and put it in its case.

A week isn't that long, I wouldn't really worry about it. Leaving the battery at around 50% is better for it, but honestly I probably wouldn't worry about it for just a week.

Why aren't you bringing her with you anyway?

Turn it off - off off, not sleep. Leave it.

Its only a week. I've left my Powerbook THREE YEARS and its powered on once charged up... One week is nothing.
Refusing to resign myself to using an Apple full time - cost so far: €152 for a new hard disk for my Vaio, €10 for new IDE cables for my desktop.

i just asked a simple question. since the search is not giving me what i want and I don't know the answer, i asked it. if that means that i "seriously need to get a life", so be it.

How do you manage the rest of your life if you even have to ask how to leave your powerbook ?

I am sorry, I just saw in your public profile that you are only 16.
So seriously: It is no problem at all to leave the powerbook like you would do it every evening when you go to bed. If you are afraid of a thunderstorm, just shut down the machine and unplug it. That will be fine in any case for every period of absence up to - say 2 months.

The only thing you should not do is to let it sleep on battery. The battery could be drained before you are back.

The charge level of the battery is unimportant for such a short period of time. If you leave the battery in a drawer for many months it is preferable to store it 50 -70% charged, check and recharge twice a year.

I don't think you're sorry at all, you lying bastard.

I think you should leave it in acid so the aluminum won't anoidize...

There are people you can pay to come to your house once a day. They will boot your PowerBook, surf some web sites, maybe send some email, and then shut it back down for the night. Look in the phone book...

You can feel the love in this thread....

Mr F, what David B said is more than enough info to get you over your weeks separation from your PB.

i turned the computer off and left it at 96%. looks like it is working fine and only dropped 1% battery charge, so thanks for the reassurance.
