hmm
well you could use the restore disk to install the os again, and customize the install by unchecking the stuff you don't need.

Well after you install, you can delete/disable the languages you don't use by using a third party program. I forgot the name but I know I found it in Macupdate.com or Versiontracker.com.

Best of luck.

for deleting languages try delocaliser, and to get rid of excess other stuff give whatsize a go - this lists everything on your hd in order of its size, so it's a piece of cake to spot the apps / drivers that are taking up space. they're both on versiontracker, if i recall correctly.

since it's new... just do the erase and install!!
nothing to lose and you get a perfectly customized OS X install.
this is a no-brainer, people.

how much space will you release by doing this? Is it worth it if you i.e just get rid of the languages (the printer drivers migth be good to have if you use your notebook at different locations etc.)

my factory install had like 9 or 10gb of things like the 1.5gb World Book Encycl., extra languages, Appleworks, iDVD, etc. You can spend 20 minutes digging around trashing things or spend a half hour doing a fresh install completely customizing your setup from the start. My clean custom install was like 4 gig, including the standard (about 1.5gb worth of) printer drivers.

Pacifist should let you extract the iLife suite from the CD.

I actually did an erase and reinstall for my iBook, running 10.3 . I noticed that my HD had less space used up by the OS than when i first took my iBook out of the box, and I didn't even change anything during the install.
