I noticed that new iPod deal with macs ends September 24. Does anyone think that's a sign of when some new Powerbooks might come out. I think it fits into the normal update schedule. Don't offers normally expire right before updates. Here's to hoping!

It's possible, since this mac + free ipod might be apple's way of getting rid of the old models and the 4GB mini and start making upgraded pb's.

I just realized...is it possible to exclude the ipod from the deal? The rebate coupon is available for download. Would it be possible to save an additional $179 on notebooks?

It's a mail-in rebate. You will mail it in along with your receipt, and if you don't have an iPod on the receipt they won't mail you a rebate check.

It's when back-to-school season ends.

I wouldn't get in a twist over it.

You can bet the next revision will have a g4 of sorts, hopefully the 7448, or if we're really lucky the 8461...

The 7448 has 1mb L2 cache, so yeah I'd definitely keep a look out for that.

About time. Windows has had that for fifteen years - oh wait, I thought you meant *security* hole finder.

So apple just revised the ipods with a color screen. Pretty sure they're trying to clear inventory for 5th gen iPods. Any thoughts? What would it look like?
So I'm just gonna wait it out til October/November to buy a Powerbook 17" and an iPod. Maybe the PBs will come with a 7448 and ATi 9800?
Hopefully there won't be much term papers due in the begining of my freshman year @ TCNJ!

You think the addition of the colour screen is to clear inventory? Right. Cause Apple just throws a colour screen in the pre-existing iPod boxes and they're good to ship right?

This is simply the end of back to school. Don't expect to see any major update of any computers in September. It's a great way to piss off people who just bought new Macs.

September the 24th is also exactly one fiscal quarter from the beginning of the promotion. I sense the hand of accountancy in this one.
All opinions are entirely those of my employer. It's not my fault.

And really the last practical day of Apple's fiscal year.

/me wants wormhole finder

Seriously, I'd like to buy a PB before school starts, but I won't buy until the FSB speed is improved... I'm really hoping for an 8641 or at least a 7448 before September.
