Hi,

I paid a visit to my local apple store yesterday to buy apple care for my PB and my iPod, I also wanted to buy some 4X DVD-Rs for my PB and they told me that Apple 4X DVD-Rs are discontinued! They also suggested not using 8X DVD-Rs on my drive since they could damage the drive. So I went to bestbuy next hunting for some 4X DVD-Rs and nothing!

Anyone knows where I can get good quality 4X DVD-Rs?

Or any other solution to this problem? What type of media is recomended then to use with the 4X superdrives?

Thanks.

You should have absolutely no issue burning slower than discs are rated for. I do this with my pc all the time, and see absolutely no reason any damage to the drive should occur.

They said that using 8x media in your 4x SD could damage the drive? Did they say how? This sounds unprobable. I'd agree that it would only burn at 4x because of the drive, but damage it? Any insights anyone?

I dunno... in my 8x Drive 16x Media only burns at 2x. Any should work, but not at high-speeds.

go to www.shop4tech.com

i get my 4x DVD-Rs there. 100 for like $30-35ish. i assume apple doesn't use special DVD-R's do they? I use them on my PC dvd burner. i opted not to get the superdrive since i already have a dvd-rw.
