Hey everyone, I would like to say hello and such, since I am new here. I have always been an Apple fan, and have currently just purchased a Powerbook G4 12"....however, there are problems. I purchased the unit in mind for creating music. I also purchased an M-Audio keyboard, logitech set of speakers, etc. I was set to go. However, after about a day, I noticed my left speaker had died. Damn. I took it for granted that the speakers were shot, so I exchanged them for the same kind. Same problem. I tested some other headphoned and such out on my headphone port, same problem....left audio not working. I checked to make sure all the audio levels were fine, even did a format, updates, etc. Nothing worked. So, I took it back and exchanged it for another Powerbook G4 12". After doing so, I was pleased that the new unit seemed to be working fine. After a couple days of NORMAL use, the same problem has happened again! I have not been cranking up my speakers at full blast. I have been listening to mp3's, and doing some basic garageband use. No strange software, drivers, etc. Is this a known issue? What do I do? This is my second Powerbook unit, I'm going to feel stupid if I go back to the store again...Help!

Not a known issue as far as I am aware. I'd take it back.

You can relaunch the M-Audio driver, or change speaker sets (I switch from 5.1 to 4.1 then back to 5.1). I think it's an issue with Core Audio and M-Audio's new drivers.
Scooters are more fun than computers and only slightly more frustrating
