I have an Ibook with 60GB of hard disk space. After installling all necessary software and application, the hard disk space is constant at 41GB. Yesterday, I tried IMOVIE by plugging my digicam to my Ibook. It started importing video. In the middle of importing, i noticed that my hard disk space started to decline to 35GB. I panicked and cancelled everything without saving.

I thought by doing that, everything will go back to 41GB but it didnt. It is still at 35GB. So, I went to look at FINDER and removed the files under MOVIES. Dragged the files in MOVIES to the trash at the dock, emptied it. It went up to 37GB but not to the original 41GB. Where are the rest of my hard disk space. What have I done wrong?

Is it possible that I made a mistake by deleting the files under "Trash in the Dock" rather than the 'Itrash?" There is an ITrash in IMovie. How can I recover the rest of my space? Help!

When you empty the trash the space used by what was in it is not immediately recovered. If you use the Secure option under Finder, it will not only securely delete your files, but recover the space they used as well.

Let me remind you that this was obviously not something specific to iBooks-it was indeed a MacOS question. Please make sure you review what each forum is for before posting, because it will help you get better responses, and it keeps extraneous postings out of inappropriate forums.
