hey guys i jus bought my brand new powerbook today and the powersupply initally chared it. then all of a sudden it will go orange then green then stop and the power adapter will not even be hot at all. i have owned a 17" before, is there a different charging procedure for this? should i take the power adapter back to apple this week?

Huh? So the adaptor doesn't get hot. So what? If the light is green, your machine is charged. I don't understand what the problem is here. Are you saying it is cycling between orange and green?

Let me take a shot at this.

You plug it in, get green, no, yellow... (pop) then nothing. Right?

I discovered my adaptor's flip-up plug wasn't quite touching the internal contacts and was arcing. (popping sound and ozone, too!) So, I used the power cord extention and swapped it for the flip-up plug. (I don't remember if the cord came w/ the adaptor or my Airport Express, but it works!)

Photo of said cord

Good luck
