Is there any way to get OS X to auto-detect the keyboard layout based on which keyboard you're using? It's driving me nuts switching back and forth from my usb keyboard and my powerbook keyboard and having to get into sys prefs every time to change the mappings for alt and option!!

UControl used to do this flawlessly but it no longer works under 10.4 I believe...

cheers

I've only ever seen it once when your doing an OS X install with something other than an Apple keyboard. If I recall correctly it asks you to press the key directly right of the left shift key and than the key directly right if the right shift key.

Aye, I've seen that screen as well, but it doesn't auto-run or anything when a usb keyboard is hooked up or anything..
