asking for some buying advice from wiser heads than i... here's the scoop

a friend is selling a powerbook with the following basic specs:

17'' screen
1.33ghz G4 cpu
80gb hd (new one, old hd replaced)
512mb ram
superdrive
boot rom version 4.7.1f1
18 months of apple protection plan left over

not sure about what software it has but let's leave that out for now

asking price is $1800

so having been about five years since i last bought a powerbook, i havent been following prices and am asking all y'all: is this a good deal?

i'm willing to spend about that much on a brand new 15'' powerbook with much the roughly same or improved rest of specs from a higher ed applestore, but i've always wanted a 17'' and the price seems fair for a used one, but really am just looking for your input... should i buy or pass?

so for any advice, much thanks!

Go new. Nothing like opening up being the first to open a seal.

I would be wary of buying a PB thats out of warranty, but I think thats a fair price considering it still has Applecare on it.

Buying a new one will cost about $1000 more and the the 1.66 won't have that much more on the 1.33
