Converted my first friend to Mac a couple days ago. She picked up her new ibook, and a printer yesterday. And since she's a student, got herself an ipod mini also.
Best part, got a couple other friends woh are jealous of the new ipod mini so they're talking to me about different macs now.
Before anyone starts goign halleluljah, down to microsoft, I also helped 2 other people pick out a Fujitsu PC laptop and a Dell PC laptop last week.

Straight up: I don't think I've ever wanted to hug and slap someone at the same time.

Some people are better suited for PCs than for Macs, pure and simple. They need the "social anonymity" of using the "most popular" or "best selling" OS/computer. They are not emotionally or socially ready to "buck the trend" and go with something that is (for a lot of us) a whole lot better.
Then there are people who have to have a PC because the software they MUST use is only available for PC. If that's the case, then a Dell laptop is probably the best bet for them. Fujitsu has its own strong points, but low price is NOT one of them.
So Flip, lighten up; we don't know whether mpancha had to deal with fanatics, desperate college students, or "PC cattle" just going with the flow.

haha
well, I'm all about finding out a person's needs when I help them pick out anything.
The reason they need help picking one out is b/c they don't know what is out there, and what anything tech-wise means. I'm sure many of you have gone to a Fry's or Best Buy (or any electronics store) and wanted to punch the salesperson for just being utterly stupid.
Secondly, if something goes wrong, Im the one who ends up having to fix it.... so I'd rather minimize the amount of time I spend doing so.

So true, fixing things for others is not fun, unless you work at the Genius Bar and get paid to do it!
And I know that "I swear I'll freakin' punch you if you mispronounce 'Mac' again" feeling, one time I was sitting at the orthodontis's (spelt wrong) basically strapped to the chair. They have a mac to store teeth pictures (what a waste) and all the idiots there are talking about how sometime got dragged off the dock: "I swear they were locked in down... at the... you know that thing at the bottom. But then I dragged it out and now it's gone and were going to have to get new software or something. But it was so cool it like "poofed" away like magic! (stupid laughing) It was so cool though because it was locked for everyone else but I'm the one who got it. and then I don't even know what happened, but then they were talking everything being gone at the bottom and the only thing I can guess is that the same person went back and removed more of them.... it was horrific... or just really, really annoying, which are both about the same.
